and two kingfishers...

Look what Brian sent to us this week : -

"
I haven't been out with the camera lately, but I was out the other day at Strumpshaw, and had the pleasure of seeing three kingfishers within sight of the hide. I finished up spending 5 hours, I left when it got too dark to take anymore photos. The result was very rewarding as I have never taken pictures of the bird in sunlight."

damsel in distress

Our photographer in residence, Brian Macfarlane, spends many early mornings waiting in cold, damp places for barn owls - often to no avail. Occasionally his patience is rewarded in unexpected ways: -

"The only real thing of interest I captured was a blue-banded demoiselle caught in a spiders web. It had only just got trapped and I was tempted to release it, but I saw the spider approaching so I decided to photograph it instead."
